Orofacial Myology
The muscles of your face and mouth play a vital role in speaking, breathing, eating, and smiling. When these muscles don’t function properly, they can affect everything from dental development to breathing patterns and speech clarity. Orofacial myology – the science of oral and facial muscle function – offers solutions to these often overlooked but essential aspects of oral health.
At BK Dental, we understand the complex relationship between facial muscles, breathing, and overall oral development. Dr. Kaltchev takes a comprehensive approach to identifying and treating muscle function issues that could affect your quality of life. Through specific evaluation and targeted therapy, we can help retrain these essential muscles to function correctly, potentially preventing or resolving a range of oral health concerns.

Overview
Orofacial myology is the study of the muscles of the mouth and face that affect speech, swallowing, and chewing. Abnormal functioning of these muscles can lead to orthodontic, breathing, speech, and TMJ problems.

Our Approach
We develop an individual treatment program for each patient. The program includes specific orthotic and orthodontic appliances, along with orofacial myology exercises.
